How We Work
We are expeditionary by design and our systems and structures enable flexible and agile responses while ensuring safe, effective and compliant delivery.
Working with and through teams drawn from the communities in which we operate enables us to deliver impactful interventions built on intimate local understanding. In collaboration with our global network of international and local experts, we integrate nuanced understanding of the challenges we aim to solve with best practice and field-leading innovation to deliver programming that meets short-term stabilisation objectives and builds the evidence base and knowledge needed to lay the groundwork for long-term stabilisation programming.
What We Do
Design, Monitoring, Evaluating + Learning
At ARK, we are committed to ensuring our projects are of meaningful benefit to the communities in which we work. We strive to continually improve our programming through rigorous monitoring, evaluation and learning that enables us to adjust and improve programme designs to better achieve our goals. Given the nature of the environments in which we work, this requires ongoing innovation of new tools to overcome constraints on measuring impact–whether they relate to access, attribution or the need for accountability to all programme stakeholders. Our experienced, multilingual DMEL teams are trained in the most up-to-date evaluation techniques as well as different donors’ reporting requirements.
Strategic Communications
We use research, data-proven techniques, innovative technology and credible local messengers to connect our clients with their intended audiences. Our multilingual production team are experts in their fields that have worked for a range of leading international, regional, and national media organisations. In cooperation with an extensive network of freelance media experts, our team delivers messaging in a language, medium, mode and manner that resonates with target audiences, influences behaviours and brings about social change.
Capacity Development
Our partners and beneficiaries are at the centre of our work. Using Organisational Capacity Assessments and tailored training we support partners and beneficiaries to become self-sustainable and continue progress towards our shared goals. Using a ‘train-the-trainer’ approach, we prepare our partners to build the capacity of others in their communities, ensuring the long-term sustainability and impact of interventions. Since our founding in 2008, we have helped establish and grow the capability of hundreds of Civil Society and Community-Based Organisation across the world.
Project + Programme Management
Our projects are evidence-based and leverage insights from our Research and DMEL teams. Our project management approach uses internationally recognised best practice and adheres to ISO 27001 and ISO 9001:2015 standards, ensuring quality management and value for money for our clients. All our project managers are qualified in the APMG-accredited Project Management for Development system and receive regular continuation training.
Corporate Partnership
When harnessed, the private sector can become a powerful force for creating meaningful change in the world. As a result, we work with global corporations to develop innovative solutions to local challenges, allowing CSR initiatives to result in business development opportunities, measurable impact and an enduring legacy.
