Helping Syrian Children

A Message from ARK CEO, Alistair Harris.

Sometimes a little can go a long way. This year we have supported the 'Presents for Syria’ campaign that benefited the Haroof school in Lebanon’s Bekaa. As a result of the campaign, each of the school’s 450 refugee students received winter clothing, educational materials, hygiene products and some toys. With our modest donation, they were able to buy 300 books to set up a school library, classroom geometry equipment, and a laptop for teachers to access online resources. For full details on the campaign and the conditions the students live in, have a look at www.presentsforsyria.com.

Winter is a real challenge for refugee communities – with many families living in tents and unfinished buildings, keeping children warm, healthy and well-nourished in often freezing temperatures is a daily struggle. That’s why every Presents for Syria box comes with a set of warm clothes, soap, shampoo, towel, toothbrush and toothpaste. Something else is hard to come by too for these kids – fun. That’s where supporters come in, selecting toys and gifts to help a child get the most out of life, exploring their creative or sporty sides, and giving them tools to fuel their imagination.

I personally know the people behind this and we are delighted to have been able to help in some small way. I sincerely hope you will consider supporting also.
